Five minutes with Chris Kirby, CEO - Tomorrow's Journey
Can you please share a little about yourself with our visitors?
I am Chris Kirby, the CEO and one of the founding team of Tomorrow’s Journey. I’ve been in the automotive industry mainly working for the captive finance arms of the major OEMs for over 15 years. I left to run the automotive division of a strategic marketing agency which was where I meet my co-founders Nick and Matt, it’s also where I became deeply interested in the emerging intelligent mobility space. Looking back it was really when Nick and I researched and published a white paper on the future of mobility that we started to see some of the essential component parts needed to make this revolution work were missing – that inadvertently became the concept behind the JRNY platform we have built.
Can you please tell us why you chose to exhibit at CiTTi 2019?
The event brings together so many people from different parts of the mobility landscape under one roof, and it is also in our home town of Milton Keynes so we just felt it was too good an opportunity to miss.
What do you feel are the biggest challenges facing the industry at the moment?
There is one overriding challenge facing every industry at the moment, the need to rapidly reduce our carbon emissions is the defining issue of our times, but it’s far from the only one we face. The challenge that we have honed in on is making more efficient use of assets, in every sector a huge amount of capacity is wasted every day and it prevents us spreading the benefits of intelligent mobility to a wider audience. We are working to have fewer vehicles on the road, but vehicles that are much more fully utilised.
