Biography

Sam is a life-long start-up entrepreneur. His most recent business Gnewt Cargo, which began as an Angel-invested company in 2009, has enjoyed exponential growth ever since and has won multiple awards from the electric vehicle, logistics and environmental sectors. Gnewt was part-sold in 2014 by DX PLC at a £3.5m valuation five years after inception and was subsequently acquired in full by John Menzies Plc for an undisclosed fee.

His extensive experience with electric vehicle development and utilisation in the UK and has helped Gnewt develop its operational model, building quality relationships with key clients, the wider industry and Governmental bodies, most notably the London Mayor’s Office at City Hall. He was a 2015 Merit winner at the Great British Entrepreneurs Awards, a Fellow to the National Institute of Couriers and a sector chair for the same institution on the area of Electric Vehicles.

Sam is a regular public speaker and has previously provided evidence to the Transport Select Committee on the future of urban freight. In 2016 & 2017, he was voted #21 in the greenfleet.net top 100 most influential people in Low Carbon Fleets.
